I have a JD 790 and 6 acres of land. I use a 5 ft. bushhog to cut about 4 acres of it with no trouble. I have lots of trees that slow me down, but can still cut it all in 4+ hours. I have even considered trading for a 4 ft. bush hog for cutting around the trees, but the JD 790 works well in tight areas. I would suggest the 4WD version. You may find more uses in the future. I agree with john ,I bush hog a little more than 5 acres with my 790 4wd using a big old john deere 506 bush hog and it does the job well. The adding of 4wd gives you 3 advantages, First 4 wheel drive, second a 2 stage clutch which really helps foward and reverse gear shifts or up shifting with the bush hog running ,Third power steering. Also you might want to check out your tire options , The R1s are great in feilds but are not kind to your lawn. You might want to op for R4s alot kinder to your lawn but still gives you great traction.
